Beauty in Bogota

Dear Friends,
Thanks for your prayers for my trip last week. It was great to be with the team in Colombia and see how they’ve been growing.   Here’s a very short video where you can meet Alejandro Maldonado, our team leader in Colombia--

A quick snapshot of the ministry in Bogota by the numbers---
·         Three years ago we had 7 leaders starting the ministry in one neighborhood in Bogota, now we have a team of 16 leaders doing ministry in 4 neighborhoods.
·         8 of those leaders met the Lord through the ministry of Young Life and are now discipling others just as they were.
·         They’ll be holding a training camp for new leaders in April and hope to bring 12-15 potential new leaders along.
·         Their third outreach camp will be held in July. Last year they took 22 students, this year they hope to take at least 40 students.
·         In 2013 we hope to start YL in Medellin as well as seeing the ministry grow more in Bogota.

Our team leaders in Bogota
I hope the numbers can give you just a little glimpse of how God has been working in Colombia. In one of our meetings we asked the leaders there to explain why they’re doing Young Life. Nicolas, one of the young leaders, spoke up first...he said, “I want other teens to find what I’ve found here. I met the Jesus through this and my life finally has purpose, and I know many others need that too, so I want to help them find Him.”  As we continued around the room, it was great to hear so many young leaders talk about the need for Jesus they see in their city and among their friends and how excited they are to serve in Young Life and help others come to know Christ.
God is using these leaders and Young Life in Colombia to impact teenagers and that’s a beautiful thing to see.  Thanks for helping us train, encourage and support these leaders,
